films
Background
I began my interest in filmmaking as a teenager, when I used to make comedy radio shows with my cousins and my brother. It wasn’t until graduate school that I actually played with film editing, however, as a part of an art seminar.

During my PhD, I was mentored by documentary filmmakers and learned more of the art of filmmaking. I then proceeded to take fifty hours of footage for my doctoral research, which became the basis for my first documentary film. Now in the final editing stage, this film work has spawned several other film ideas and collaborations with other filmmakers, which precipitated the launch of my production studio, Seehorse Productions.

This first film, “Almost Heaven,” may take awhile longer to finish, due to its highly personal nature. However, with funding from the Toyota Foundation for my Transoceania Initiative, I have embarked on further filming throughout Japan and Micronesia as part of my Project35 (project sango) creative collaboration.
